Missions

The Mission Team promotes three American Baptist Mission offerings each year: The America for Christ offering in February/March, One Great Hour of Sharing in June and the World Mission Offering in October. In addition we encourage participation in the Christmas blankets offering, Pastor’s Action Fund, the Sullivan Food Pantry and other local mission efforts as they arise including Habitat for Humanity, Tools for School. Information about our missionaries and their needs on the field are brought to the attention of the congregation. When missionaries are in Indiana we invite them to visit and share their experiences in person.

America for Christ Offering supports missions in the United States and Puerto Rico–Christian Centers, camps, chaplains, and many others through the American Baptist Home Mission Society.

One Great Hour of Sharing is offering received by many denominations and used primarily for relief in times of disaster: earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, China, and hurricanes, most recently Katrina, floods.

The World Mission Offering supports Missionaries around the world in 73 countries.

Tools for School helps provide essential items for school children in Sullivan County.

Our Father’s Arms supports local missions by donating money and food items for those in need in co-operation with other churches in Sullivan County.

The Pastor’s Action fund is received on Communion Sundays for the pastor’s discretionary use for those in need.

SHARE is administered by the Ministerial Association for transients who come to a SHARE church for fuel, food or housing.

Christmas Blankets provides blankets and items needed in times of crisis or natural disaster.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

Malachi 3:10 (NIV)

Faithful stewardship provides our church the resources to participate in world, national and local ministries.
