Outreach Ministry is a group of dedicated Christians whose mission is to be the body of Christ in the Sullivan and surrounding communities. We work by faith, with passion and joy to be salt and light, using the gospel and going into our community. “Our story” is our understanding of Jesus.

Our theme is The Great Commission. Outreach Ministry supports and fulfills the mission of Sullivan First Baptist Church which is to proclaim God’s plan of salvation, and encourage its members in faithful discipleship in Jesus Christ.

The following are a few of our church ministries;

Visitor’s Bags inform new church attendees of the various ministries of SFBC; including child, youth and adult programs. Also included is a video of Jesus produced by Campus Crusade for Christ. This is the most widely used evangelistic tool. If a young child resides in the home, a Veggie Tales video is included along with a Bible story book. Our church directory, a paperback Bible and the Church’s cookbook is also a part of the visitor’s bag.

Trunk or Treat is held at Halloween time and is open to the community. Families in our church provide a safe and fun place for children to gather candy. We all have a good time dressing up too, as we open our trunks in the lower church parking lot. Noah’s Ark Preschool members receive an invitation and advertizing is accomplished through the schools, church bulletin and word-of-mouth. Children receive a Bible story book and information about SFBC.

Our Van Ministry provides transportation for church attendees to the Sunday morning services. The van is also used for youth activities, adult church groups and Noah’s Ark field trips.

The Corn Festival is Sullivan County’s week of community gathering. We strive to be a presence on the Sullivan square during this time. In past years we have had a tent selling cookies, one year we provided water to symbolize the Lord’s ‘Living Water’ and in the past we have had a float for the Saturday parade.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a time of great fun for our children. The community is welcome to participate. The Outreach Ministry assists with the children’s teams and facilitates the VBS closing church picnic.

The church supports the local Boy Scouts, which meets on Tuesday nights.
